Origin of poke bowl
Poke (in Hawaiian, po.ke means "piece" or "cut") is one of the main dishes of traditional Hawaiian cuisine. It consists of raw fish cut into cubes, served as a starter or main course. It is also known for its modern variant, the poke bowl, which became widely available in occident from 2012 and which has had, according to trends and tastes, several additions of popular ingredients such as avocado, red cabbage or the teriyaki sauce.
The poke bowl has the same culinary and linguistic origins as many other Polynesian dishes made with raw fish as in Tahiti, Samoas and Fiji.
